I think I hate notes.The whole note system on here seems to be nothing but a channel to let me know about art theft. Useful? Yes, undeniably. Makes me overjoyed every time I see a new note? Not so much.
In my dA universe a new note always (seriously, like 99,999% always) equals stolen art. I'm not meaning to complain that I never get any nice notes (all in all, all these messages are very nice, it's just the subject that is unpleasant), but they are definitely so rare – if not non-existent – that every time I log on and see a new unread note I immediately think "Not again... what this time?".
Note = bad news so often that it isn't even funny anymore (yes, I actually was able to see it as a funny phenomenon at some point). It's getting kind of depressing.
Don't get me wrong though, I greatly appreciate it that there are so many wonderful people who care to note me when they find out that my art has been stolen – a big thank you for all those helpful people once again!
I guess I'm kind of trying to comfort here those people who say they never get any notes at all and feel sad about that. Let me suggest you to enjoy that blissful state as long as it lasts. No notes cannot be worse than constant bad news notes.
I don't know... the whole thing is just utterly absurd. What is most likely supposed to be a nice private message system has turned into a bad news channel. For me at least. Starting with the fact that I can't really see how anyone finds anything worth stealing in my gallery. Every time I watermark a new piece it feels ludicrous because it seems like I'd be making a statement that my works are worth stealing. Which they aren't. Still, every time someone steals something from my gallery I cannot help pitying the thiefs because they couldn't find anything better to steal and decided to settle with my piece... That's sad.
Okay, now this sounds like Go steal someone else's work!! speech...
I'm going to stop before I start to get hate mail.
