Every now and then I say that I should draw a big cat... and I never get around to do it. Not this time either. Just a cat. Still, I've only ever once drawn a cat before this one so I'm completely out of my comfort zone. I spent a couple of hours with this sketch quite comfortably until it started to annoy me. Instead of just hiding it indefinitely somewhere I thought to scan it and try to do something about it... something that I could like. This was never meant to be anything but a practice sketch. But it started to live a life of its own and turned into this. So... a big accident instead of a big cat. I guess I can live with that.

Most like I was inspired by *moodymand and I thought to draw this big-eyed beastie based on one of her photos (because she once said I could use a photo ref from her photo account ~moodycam). I'm not going to give straight link to the ref because I rather send you over to her very nice photo gallery to find it yourself. There is after all no use comparing this to the photo because I obviously didn't try to exactly copy it. Thanks to Amanda for the permission to use the photo as a ref. You can feel free to regret giving that permission now though. I hope you don't mind me turning the whole pic around either.

What inspired the random snow theme then...? I'd blame *Ahuvah's recent photo (Snow Day) for that part. It made me miss snow even more than I already did otherwise. We're having a rare grey winter and it totally ruins my favourite season. Anyway, I never planned snow theme for this drawing... it just happened. It's nice to be subconsciously inspired.

This is a heavily edited pencil drawing. But originally a pencil drawing nonetheless. Someone would submit this under digital art because the finished piece is very much dependent on the digital changes. But in the end, I couldn't ever draw that cat digitally, thus I feel the traditional part is important too.

Along with this would be probably rather suitable to send season's greetings to everyone. Thanks for this year and hopefully the next year will treat you all well.
