Why Is the Rum Always Gone?

Just to prove I'm at least trying to work on this... oh well, not that I would have touched it many times so far... it's not much more than a couple of days' effort so far, really. It just mainly stays on my table untouched. And not a word about the bottle, I know it's... I won't say it. I don't drink, so I don't know how a bottle should look like. Or should I come up with a better excuse? Ok, it's honestly not finished yet. There hardly is any finished part in that whole drawing yet. I already could point out several things I hate about it... but too bad, I just cannot make any so big changes anymore.
The only reason I'm doing this... and why I still like it even a bit... is most likely because it at least looks somehow like the character it should be.

This is really beautiful; you can see the depth through the face and hair; the spacial quality is effin' perfect. I know how it goes with the bottle; I leave whole arms and legs off because I'm so excited to get the damn thing done.

I envy your talent to capture Depp. His quizzical expression, the hair...its really quite stunning. Glass is tough to draw, but keep at it. This is an amazing WIP, and I can't wait to see the finished product. :)

I think it's looks very good, but you know what's finished and what's not, while I can only oggle his lovely eyes.
And, you really did pull off the expression, and the look of Depp, where a lot of people fail miserably.

You're waaaaaaay too harsh on yourself. When you finish the bottle and stuff, it'll be amazing. You've captured the character perfectly! Just keep drawing it and don't think about those microscopic mistakes that don't even show on the drawing. I know it's hard but believe me, nobody's going to see them even if they excist. :nod: Seriously, I see nothing wrong with this one. Keep up the good work! :blowkiss:

This is looking sooooooo great! His expression is spot on...and I don't see anything wrong with this at all. Don't be so hard on yourself. :) I love the details you put into his face and you drew his eyes wonderfully.

Thanks for the comment. :) Hah, your idea for the bottle is not that bad, I was actually thinking that if I don't get it work I can just cut it out. :giggle: But I'm just afraid this drawing would lose quite a big part if there were no rum in it... or well, there is no rum in it anyway :XD: but you know what I mean. ;)

:hug: Thanks for your kind words. Capturing Depp as himself or as any character definitely is a challenge every time... but it's quite rewarding when you see it actually starts to look like it should. :) This is far from being exactly like the reference but I leave the expression be because it's close enough, a bit different but still works, I think it leaves no doubt about who it is and what's going on in his head. ;) And this bottle... it's mainly just a black area in the reference pic, very dark glass, hardly transparent at all and no reflections really... I have to think hard what to even try to do about it... :confused:
