Anette Olzon, the new stunning vocalist of Nightwish.

I'm not so fond of this drawing. I could probably have worked on it ages more and fixed a million things I still see wrong there, but I started to get tired of it, so there it is now. Done. I'll accept that it's far from perfect and move on.

But the point it pretty much that I drew a woman. I don't draw women. This is a rare exception because she's the vocalist of my favourite band and I guess I'm trying to draw the entire band one by one. That might take a few years though () because I feel like doing other things now. After all, I don't even know if it was my idea to draw them all or if a friend manipulated me into trying to do it. But since I already drew one, I thought why not make the others too.

This was extremely hard for me. I cannot draw women. And this face is still so new to me that it was almost impossible to know what features make her personality and I couldn't find good enough references. Excuses, excuses, I know. I dare say I'm pleasantly surprised though that I even managed to draw her somehow but it just does annoy me that the likeness isn't even close to where I usually get with my portraits.

I already abandoned this once thinking I'll never ever be able to make it work. Then once again, music came to help. Sounds romantic but that's exactly what happened. I heard one of the songs from the new Nightwish album where this amazing woman sings. The song called Bye Bye Beautiful is said to refer to the old singer of the band, so thus the title Welcome Beautiful was perfect for this.
