[I had no idea which category this really belongs to... Animals? Fantasy?]
I could with every reason call this as the first piece of art in my gallery. This is what I want to do, or at least a hint about it. Not a portrait, not realistic, not a copy of a photo. This is mine. The quality might be light-years away from my best pencil drawings but this is my thought, my pain, my delight. I have a long way to go but so far so good. At the moment, for me the though and feeling counts more than the means to express it. I need the colours and I must accept the fact that I'm pretty lost with colour pencils.
It might be appropriate to admit this is enhanced on computer; this is no way equally good on paper. Or maybe it is, but just different. I like it as it is on paper but after going through my scanner... it just isn't the same on computer screen, so it might as well be enhanced a bit and then fairly be different.
I hope you get something out of this. If it's a thought that you feel like sharing, please do. It goes without saying that this is a special one for me. Critique is welcome too, but I'm going to be pretty sensitive about it , so please, be nice and constructive.
Inspired by (but not trying to be an interpretation of) the following song:
Sleeping Sun
The sun is sleeping quietly
Once upon a century
Wistful oceans calm and red
Ardent caresses laid to rest
For my dreams I hold my life
For wishes I behold my night
The truth at the end of time
Losing faith makes a crime
I wish for this night-time
to last for a lifetime
The darkness around me
Shores of a solar sea
Oh how I wish to go down with the sun
Sleeping
Weeping
With you
Sorrow has a human heart
From my god it will depart
I'd sail before a thousand moons
Never finding where to go
Two hundred twenty-two days of light
Will be desired by a night
A moment for the poet's play
Until there's nothing left to say
This drawing wouldn't exist without the mentioned piece of music. I've waited for years, or more likely for at least a decade, to be able to create something myself like I used to do when I was just a kid. Through Nightwish's music I've found again something I thought I had lost forever. I felt indescribably good about being able to do this and I hope I can continue like this.
This doesn't mean I'd abandon all I did before, I'll most likely continue drawing portraits etc to keep up some kind of technique (or the lack of it ) which will hopefully help me to do what I want to do most.
Last but not least, after all this rambling, sorry for the watermarks but it should be quite obvious that the last thing I wish is someone stealing this.
aaahhhh this is amazing! The colors are wonderful, and the shading on the body of the horse. It's very hard to shade anything that's supposed to be white... and you did it brilliantly!
My only suggestion is that the tail could do with a bit more shadowing. It looks a bit flat, tone-wise, compared to the mane. But that's it.
I am amazed by the eye, and the shadowing around it. I know that is only a small part of the drawing, but that is what amazes me - that you managed to put so much detail into such a small area. There are a lot of different values in there - around the eye and toward the nose. It's wonderful.
WOW, that is really impressive. I absolutely love it. The colours, the way everything fits together, every single detail, down to the title. And of course that romantic, yet sad expression that works perfectly with the song it is named after and inspired by.
Great job.

In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
