... I Once Had - sketch by Embers ... I Once Had - sketch by Embers
For the Heart I Once Had would be the whole title.

At least so far I work with that title. And yes, it's a stolen song title. Again. I'm not going to say sorry for that.

I just love the flow of inspiration. :faint: I felt like sharing one more sketch because I really like this one. For me, it's not a horse drawing, if you understand what I mean. It's so much more. Finishing might always ruin it, so you best enjoy the sketchy version as long as you can. ;) Well, I hope you can. ^^;

This appeared on the paper very quickly and easily and could turn out to be something interesting in the end... I'm afraid I have a bit weird plans for this colour-wise, or who knows... We'll see if I end up doing something a bit radical or more classical about this. :plotting: I'm just going with the flow again. :floating:

I feel like sending an extra :glomp: to ever so wonderfully supportive :iconahuvah: along with this. I hope you feel better soon. This is what I was wasting my time on. ;)

Very nice, I know it's just supposed to be a sketch but it already looks really, really good. Whether you go on coloring it or not, it's beautiful.

I won't drop you a comment on each of your new deviations but after having taken a closer look on all of them I can certainly say your inspiration has fully returned to you and your work has reached a point and is more beautiful than it has ever been before. Lots of love and passion went into your art works and I can see both things coming through in this sketch too. Even though it is just a sketch it already looks fantastic and one can assume the finished result will be worth a face :). So keep it up!

Thank you so much. :hug: It feels good to know someone else sees change in my work too. I'm struggling to find time to draw but at least the inspiration is there. Having a good inspiration must be one of if not the best feeling ever.

Haven't heard from you for some time again. How are you doing? Working on anything new?

I absolutely adore this drawing! Just a sketch! It deserves to be framed and hung up on the wall, right now. :D The composition is so lovely and I love how the forlock frames the picture. :heart:

:hug: Thanks again, your kind comments are always much appreciated (and the :+fav:, too of course). :thanks: Yes, it's just a sketch... and none of my drawings will ever end up framed and on the wall, really. ;)
I should find time to continue working on this. I guess some people would prefer it as it is but for me it's still very much just a sketch.

just... lovely :faint: he looks wintery to me, a white fluffy wintercoat against a blanket of snow... Probably not what you have in mind ;P the eye and surrounding forelock are just... perfection.

Once again, thanks. :thanks: I'm not going to say anything... ;P except that I had something snow related in my mind in a way while doing this but I cannot be quite sure yet to which direction this will develop. Hah, you probably did a wise thing when you faved this sketchy version because whenever this will be finished, god knows what madness it'll be... I'm going to take the risk of ruining it and just do what I feel like doing.

Thanks for sharing your sketches. This is someting I particularly enjoy. I love seeing the raw pencil. It's not visible in your work, so this rare glimpse is great. It still has a photorealistic quality, but you've been doing the beautiful classical style drawings and all of it together is wonderful. Keep it up.

Well what a deciever =P
When I saw this on small scale it looked like a horse was trotting through a forest...or an area with trees that had low hanging branches and swaying leaves. But when I got closer I saw that it was the horse's eye and mane.

Very nice sketch indeed =D

Great emotion in the horse's eye. The composition works wonderfully, the horse's mane in the large portrait reminds me of weeping willow a little, and of curtains around the smaller horse figure. Very very beautiful.

I love these new inspired and very inspirational works of yours! The best of luck to you with all of them! :heart:

:) I noticed the curtain effect myself too. It was actually unintentional but I like it.
I'm looking forward to finding time to get back working on this. :excited: Being truly inspired to do something is something I haven't felt in ages (and that means years). I feel like a kid who has found again the joy of just drawing whatever feels right at that moment.

Ahh, it's a wonderful feeling! One of the best things in the world. :love:
It's so good to hear you've found it. I can only wish every artist never to lose it! Although I know from my own experience that the mysterious Muse sometimes wanders off in an unknown direction, and there's not much one can do... Listening to inspirational music can help, actually - but you already know that! ;)

My turn to say sorry for the late reply... ^^;

For me having inspiration like this must be one of if not the best thing I know. Looking back, I don't know how I could go on without it... I guess we all lose it sometimes but I don't think for me it disappeared just like that, I think I killed it myself really, trying to get better and better and accepting to draw things I didn't want to draw etc.

Ah, I definitely don't mind late replies! :giggle:

Again, I have the feeling I know what you mean. Something like this happened to me, only I tried to kill my inspiration because I wanted to... expand the horizons, I guess, learn something new. Didn't want to get stuck in old ideas, repeating myself, and distanced myself from creating new things altogether. But it only made me depressed. So from my own experience I now know that raw inspiration is the one thing that matters the most! It's best to try and preserve it.

I see you've also had a difficult lesson to learn, but you've come out of this experience with absolutely gorgeous new works... so it's all good then! ;)

Thank you, I hope you're right about it becoming better when I finish it. So far it has actually surprised even me... This kind of started to live its own life. I had way more simple plan when I started with this... There was for example no plan to have that eye there at all. :shh: It just appeared. :giggle: Btw... I seem to have worse and worse obsession with long manes. :blush:

Wow! You're just so gifted, you know? Hehe! I love how you've captured the emotion in the eye of the horse as well as your use of detail. And it's hard to believe that this is just the sketch! Now if that's not talent I don't know what is. I can't wait to see the finished product either! I'm sure the color will only make it better!
