For all that was good... by Embers For all that was good... by Embers
As always... things change along the way and I think this became far too depressive to be a Christmas present. The whole colour is just thanks to my camera btw. Unintentinal, but I actually like it.

As for the gift issue... I did something else. Yeah, I made another drawing. I'm currently contemplating if it's suitable or not. *sigh* It's maybe one of the nicest things I've done, ever, but there's very little hope for me to submit that image here because I have no chance to scan the image before most likely giving it away, and I doubt a photo of it would make any justice to it. I'll have to try... I don't know how I could give it away without having a copy of it for myself. Yes, I am always this selfish.

Beautiful line work! The softness of the image is brilliant, and you show an incredible understanding of the median! Splendid job!

I am new to this site, so please forgive me if I ask a stupid question. I have been looking at horse drawings you have done and I like them very much. The reason I joined the site is that I am trying to find an artist who is good with horse drawings who might be available to do a simple line drawing for me. Is it acceptable to ask if you do drawings specifically for a fee?

Nothing stupid at all in your question. :) Thank you so much for the compliment on my work, I'm very glad to hear you liked what you saw but as much as I'd like to, I don't dare to promise you anything. I rarely draw requests and since I've been quite unable to draw anything in over a year and am just re-finding the inspiration, I best stick to drawing just for myself for now. But since you're new around here, I'm going to suggest you to contact for example *moodymand. She is one of my utmost favourite artists drawing horses (don't be discouraged by the birds you see at first glance, it's a more recent development for her, just dive in her gallery and you'll find endlessly horses!), a very talented artist and extremely nice and friendly to top it off. I imagine she'd be one to easily come up with what you're looking for. If you don't know how access her Scraps gallery, here's an example of her sketching skills: [link] If you decide to contact her, let her know that I sent you her way. ;)

For someone who is looking for horse art seeing just birds at first glance might give the wrong idea. ;)

I knew that. It's just not possible to not like birdies! (Actually, I know some insane people at school who do...)

I think "depressive" is a strong word to use about - in my mind the horse looks worried. Like it wants to take care of you, to be there for you, but it just doesn't know why. It's a really lovely picture :3

You don't know how excited I am to see something from you in my inbox :D I missed the beautiful Embers style, the fine twists of mane hair and the expressiveness that comes through every single one of your works, equine or no.
Goes without saying that this is lovely. :aww:

Well, first, this particular picture is wonderful. In comparable pictures that I'm used to, the mane is usually paid much more attention to than the eyes, giving this a very different feel to it.

As for the gift issue . . . I think your friend would probably be willing to let you scan it. I mean, I don't know who this is in particular, but in general, I would think that a friend would grant you that much. However, I must disagree that this is being particularly selfish; you're the artist, why wouldn't you want a copy of your own work? As far as I know, most artists save a copy (whether physical or digital) for themselves and give away the original.
