I guess it's appropriate to thank *moodymand for making me think of drawing a swan. She said that she'd imagine that I'd be great at drawing swans and I laughed at her and said that she doesn't know what she's asking for. :O The thing is that I still remember when I tried drawings swans last time. I was just a kid, probably some four years old, and I got so mad because I couldn't make their necks work at all. I guess I got a bit traumatized (just kidding ;)) and I never really tried again. After Amanda suggested that I should draw a swan I ended up thinking why not try once in every 20 years. :XD:

I had no expectations and now... I'm seriously loving this piece. :faint: I look at this and think it's one of the best things I've ever done. I cannot believe it. I sure didn't expect to have so soon an idea where I could use a swan but if you know where I stole the title from, you can guess what inspired this as well.

Colour pencils on black cardboard (or whatever it should be called, I don't know) and a couple of digital layers to get there the glowing magic I wanted. For so long I've wanted to draw on black paper but I never really have because I cannot be bothered to go and buy some. Luckily I found one suitable piece of black cardboard for this because I couldn't imagine drawing this on white paper. And now I'm pretty convinced I must go and get a lot of black paper... loved it so much.

Very nice. I love the work on black cardboard. The reflections are wonderful, and the swan looks excellent :)

Truly amazing. I must agree with you, definitely one of your best works so far. :) The dark colors fit perfectly, I really like that.
May I ask you something? How long have you drawn?

No, really! I'm sane! Well, that's what the voices tell me...

Thank you so much, that's a great compliment coming from such a great artist as you are. :thanks:
How long have I drawn...? So long that I should be considerably better at it. ;) More or less all my life but there have been long times (weeks, months, even years) when I've hardly drawn at all. Drawing has always been my way to spend time and stay sane rather than trying to get anywhere with it. I guess I started to try making things look somehow realistic some 10 years ago and now I'm getting over it because it started to kill my will to draw. So, it's a bit difficult to answer your question exactly but I hope my explanation gives you some kind of an idea.
